About Me

Meet Deborah

Deborah Mason was born and raised in the South, bless her heart. If she were to describe her life in one word, it would be “blessed.” Her faith, family, and friends keep her centered.

Ms. Mason is a retired English teacher with master’s degrees in English, Special Education, and Gifted Education. Her wealth of experience and solid educational background make her a well-rounded editor. As a member of the highly respected Editorial Freelancer Association (EFA), she stays updated on current editing trends through EFA training. She is a Christian teacher, writer, and editor passionate about helping other Christian writers. As an independent author, Ms. Mason understands the challenges, especially the costs of self-publishing. She knows firsthand that it is not an undertaking for the faint of heart.

According to this scripture, God gave each one of us a unique talent or gift which we are to use to help others. Are you a wordsmith? Has God graced you with the gift of writing? Do you want to use your unique gift to serve others? Do you have a fiction or non-fiction manuscript ready to send to a publisher or publish independently? Are you looking for a Christian editor you can trust to polish your work and maintain the integrity of your unique voice and style? If so, you are in the right place. Welcome to Firefly Mountain Books.

Please email me to book a complimentary phone chat about your project. You are under no obligation. If I cannot help you, I will try to find someone who can.

What I Edit

Non-fiction: I edit devotionals, self-help, educational, equine, and Christian manuscripts, catering to unique needs and styles, including student research papers and essays.

Fiction: I edit middle-grade, young-adult, coming-of-age, historical fiction, and inspirational romance novels. I have raised and shown horses most of my life and have lived in the West. If you have an inspirational romance with a Western setting, a cowboy, and a love of horses, I would love to edit it. I think it was Will Rogers who said: “A man on a horse is a mighty romantic thing to a woman.” I agree.

If you have a unique manuscript in mind, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am always open to new projects and will do my best to accommodate your needs. If I cannot help you, I will try to find someone who can.

Blessings – Deborah
